Dear
Colleagues,
We are
proud to host the 15th International Biomedical
Science
and Technology Symposium (Biomed 2009) that will be held during
August 16th-19th,
2009 at the Middle East Technical University Northern Cyprus Campus
(METU-NCC)
in Güzelyurt in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) .
Güzelyurt is
on the North Western part of the island and the campus is located just
above
the hills of this beautiful town.
Biomed’s
were started to enhance the scientific and technological research
efforts in the biomedical area, improve contacts between the medical
manufacturers, researchers and practitioners. This has also been the
venue for
contacts leading to national, multilateral and international research
projects
including the EU Framework Projects (FP). Traditionally the majority of
te
participants has been from Turkey but also a considerable number of
participants were from Europe, USA and the far East. We expect the
international participation to be higher than before.
We also
expect to increase the participation of
the clinicians in comparison to earlier years by offering specific
sessions for
case studies on hard and soft tissue
applications, new devices, and new developments in the
field (in tissue
regeneration, nano and microtechnology, nanobiotechnology and
nanobiomaterials).
There will also have a session/panel about the recent developments in
the stem
cell use. Stands and exhibits by manufacturers and importers of
biomedical
devices and systems are expected to present new devices and materials
for the
end users, the clinicians.
There
will be an award for the best poster
presented at the symposium.
This
will be the first time members of the
Biomaterials and TissueEngineering Society (Turkey) have a reduced rate
for
participation at the meeting.
